Harvest Thyme in Davidsonville, MD is looking for one baker/pastry assistant to join our 46-person strong team. We are located on 1251 W. Central. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and reliable.
Under the leadership of the Pastry Chef, the Pastry Assistant prepares as a team member or
independently as assigned a variety of mouthwatering desserts and pastries and demonstrates a
creative flair for developing unique tastes and recipes to delight our customers.
Responsibilities
Prepares a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, etc. following
traditional and modern recipes. All goods are made from scratch without any artificial
ingredients.
Assists in creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest
of customers.
Decorates pastries with an artistic and creative eye using different icings, toppings, etc. to
ensure a beautiful and exciting presentation.
Controls inventory, monitoring stocks of baking ingredients to ensure ample supplies are
available for planned recipes.
Checks quality of material and condition of equipment, devices, utensils and tools used
for baking.
Maintains a lean and orderly work area and environment and adheres to health and safety
standards and the policies of Harvest Thyme management.
Requirements and Skills
Proven experience as a baker or relevant role
Great attention to detail and creativity
Organization skills
Willingness to replenish professional knowledge and learn new techniques
In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and
nutrition
Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free,
sugarless, etc.)
