Job Description
Summary: The main function of a buyer is to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. A typical buyer is responsible for buying goods and services for use by their company or organization. A purchasing agent is responsible for the purchase of machinery, equipment, parts, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
- Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
Skills:

- Expert ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.
- Expert ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field required.
- 10 years finance related experience required.
- CPSM/CPPM/CPP (Certified Professional Supply Management; Certified Professional Purchasing Management; Certified Purchasing Professional) preferred.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Category of parts is within the Electric Drive category of the Electrification Division.
- Lead strategy development for a category
- Leading RFI and RFQ activities to support development of source matrix and early sourcing for new product development
Reason/motivation for request:
- Added position to support a major expansion of need within a category
Typical task breakdown:
- Lead the team to develop and document sourcing strategy for category
- Complete purchase part sourcing matrix including RFI, RFQ, QCLDM audits, pugh matrix and other supplier evaluation methods.
- Manage Supplier Relationships by leading negotiations to address supplier issues.
Interaction with team:
- Multiple interactions/collaborations with the other buyers on the team daily.
- Frequent interactions with the engineering team.
Work environment:
- Client Mossville AC office building
- Majority of the team sits together within one row at this office
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 10 years related experience required- although multiple years of purchasing experience is required, not all 10 years of experience needs to be within purchasing.
- Cross functional experience within roles such as Logistics, Engineering, and Operation Management would be accepted.
- Experience with electrification and electric drive industries would be a benefit.
Technical Skills

- Experience negotiating with suppliers.
- Experience reading engineering prints and specifications to support sourcing activities.
- Experience leading cross functional meetings
(Desired)
