Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Join Client's Resource Industry Operations & Products (RIOP) Performance & Controls team as an ISO 19014 Functional Safety Engineer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the safety and reliability of our Resources Industries (RI) machine models. Your role and expertise in ISO 19014 functional safety standards will be crucial in maintaining the highest safety standards of our products. Your key responsibilities will include comprehensive safety and risk analysis for safety controls functions and developing and implementing functional safety concepts and requirements in accordance with ISO 19014 standards and Client's playbook.

Why this Role?
- This role will work with product, systems, software, and components teams to develop safety related embedded control systems. The incumbent will perform functional safety analysis, provide input and recommendations to design systems to meet functional safety standards and understand and execute activities following established strategy and policies. This role is a horizontal role that will work across many teams. Other aspects of this role will it to provide support to validation teams to ensure that systems meet design requirements and tracking cross team execution in Azure DevOps dashboards.
Typical task breakdown:
Specifically, as the Functional Safety Engineer for Client Resources Industries, you can expect to:
- Perform Machine Controls System Safety Assessment (MCSSA), Bowtie, and other risk analysis activities with Client RI product groups and Client product compliance experts. Manage and update MCSSA contents to support all New Product Introduction (NPI) and annual products refresh activities
- Facilitate the development and update of Safety Concepts for safety controls functions with Client performance, controls, and electronics engineers
- Contribute to apply Safety Integrity Software Tool for the Evaluation of Machine Application (SISTEMA) to demonstrate all safety controls functions being able to meet required ISO 19014 performance levels
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety standards throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Create and update functional safety letters to meet products launch and customer delivery timeline
- Document and promote best practices in executing functional safety activities to optimize process efficiency
- Guide other RIOP product teams in executing functional safety activities based on proven and efficient process
- Stay updated with the latest developments in functional safety standards and controls functions development
- Track projects in Azure DevOps

Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering OR in electronic, robotic or computer systems engineering
- 8 or more years experience required.
Technical Skills
(Required)
- Developed electronic embedded control systems, electro-hydraulic control systems, electric drive control systems or battery control systems
- Demonstratable understanding of functional safety principles
- Demonstratable understanding of software development lifecycle
(Desired)
- Trained or certified in ISO 13849, ISO 19014, ISO 26262, IEC 62061 or IEC 61508
- Managed work through Azure DevOps
- Worked in the automotive or mobile machine industry
