Job Description:
The main function of a Manufacturing Engineer is to apply engineering theory and principles to problems of industrial layout or manufacturing production. A typical manufacturing engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
- Study time, motion, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rate and improve efficiency.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Read worker logs, product processing sheets, and specification sheets, to verify that records adhere to quality assurance specifications.
- Aid in planning work assignments in accordance with worker performance, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays.
- Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
Skills:
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 5-7 years of experience required.
Purpose of this team:
Focuses on implementing innovative technologies and processes to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This involves designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing systems, often utilizing automation, robotics, additive manufacturing, and digital manufacturing techniques. The department also manages budgets, tracks project progress, and ensures adherence to company standards.
- Reason for the request: Increase in volume and Mid-size launch.
- Surrounding team & key projects: Process and equipment work for Mid-size.
- Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: Create work instructions, PFMEA. Make bill of process. Product validation and pre-production and identifying issues. Design and commission small fixtures. Install and commissioning of equipment from suppliers. Root cause analysis and find failure and fix them.
- Interaction level with manager/team: Design engineering, ADV product quality teams, operations and launch teams.
- Chance for extension later? Potential for extension and/or conversion
- Expected working hours: 8am-5pm PST, Mon-Fri (OT as needed)
- Location Requirements: Onsite, Casa Grande, AZ- What makes this role interesting? Launching greenfield factories. Involved in high volume manufacturing launch. Complete control over design and commission of equipment and fixtures.

Candidate Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 5-7 years
- Degrees or certifications required: BA
- Best vs. Average: Automotive or Tier 1 supply experience. Good communication skills and speak engineering language. Leadership experience preferred, hit the ground running. EV or launch experience preferred.

- Performance Indicators: Successful completion of tasks/projects. Look for independency on how to completion of project. Quality of work. Buy-off and feedback from stakeholders.
