Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
- The Sr. Instructional Designer (ID) is a key role within Client's IT Learning & Development team.
- The Sr. Designer works collaboratively with business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), key stakeholders, program owners, and other learning professionals to design and develop innovative learning solutions that leverage a combination of learning modalities to maximize the learner experience, learning effectiveness, and business impact.
- The Sr. ID leverages instructional design techniques to author in-person, virtual, and eLearning content.
- This position uses their expertise to create original content.
- This position provides consultation on adult learning best practices and mentors junior designers in content design and development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION % OF TIME
- 1. Partners with Program Owners & Business Leaders to select best learning modalities and design technical and professional learning solutions that drive capability development and business outcomes. (40%)
- 2. Develops medium to high complexity learning experiences (ex: instructor-led training sessions (ILT & VILT), eLearning, performance support, video etc.) to address required capability gaps. (40%)
- 3. Provide consultation to Village learning teams on best practices for creating learning experiences and leveraging common standards & templates. (15%)
- 4. Other duties as assigned. (5%)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 6 to 8 years
- Bachelor’s Degree
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and/or progressively responsible work experience in related area may be substituted in lieu of degree on a year-for-year basis. (Required)
- Master’s Degree (Preferred)
- Advanced proficiency with eLearning and/or video development software applications (e.g., Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate 360 etc.) (Required)
- Advanced Proficiency with graphic design, animation and/or audio recording tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Audacity, Audition etc.) (Required)
- Instructional design including eLearning design and development, needs assessment, working with stakeholders. (Required)
- Demonstrated experience using adult learning theory and methodologies to design and develop training. (Required)
- Solid and rigorous project management skills including planning work, managing details, and keeping multiple tasks/projects on track. (Required)
- Experience working on virtual teams. (Preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (Required)
- Excellent interpersonal skills. (Required)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. (Required)
- Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD). (Preferred)
- Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD). (Preferred)
- ATD Master Instructional Designer. (Preferred)
TRAVEL AND TIME REQUIREMENTS:
- Travel: 0 - 15%
- Nights/Weekends: 0 – 15%
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

PORTFOLIOS IN SUBMITTALS REQUIRED:
- We require a portfolio for all interviews.
- The focus will primarily be building virtual instructor-led scripts, secondary will be building job aids or videos.
