Job Title: Network Security Specialist
Location: Nashville, TN
Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire
Job Description
Ensure the overall health of network security infrastructure and maintain all components at optimal operating levels for the network dedicated to transit-based initiatives.
Implement, administer, and support technical security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, and remote access solutions.
Conduct network security audits and assessments, and perform risk analysis on information systems including third-party and Internet connections.
Monitor security and threats, handle security incidents, and manage and report on security issues.
Implement, administer, and support network-based authentication and authorization services in coordination with other Client departments and ITS divisions.
Design, implement, manage and maintain access according to the principle of least required.
Implement business continuity and disaster recovery processes for all technologies and services within this functional area.
Monitor and secure supported systems in accordance with industry standards and institutional directives.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems and issues.
Coordinate activities with third parties and vendors.
Coordinate, request, prepare, and approve changes.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Employees would typically have thorough (minimum 6 years) experience in network security services with demonstrated experience with firewalls, VPNs and remote access solutions, and intelligent traffic systems. Successful candidates will also have experience
communicating complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to analyze complex information to solve difficult problems.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Extensive background in technical team management and development
Extensive background in Network Security Operations
Knowledge and understanding of network security protocols and standards
Knowledge and understanding of networking concepts and RFCs
Knowledge and understanding of intelligent traffic system communication and connectivity standards
Familiarity with security incident handling and management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills
Licenses/Certifications Required:
Valid "Class D" Driver's License
Environment:
Work involves both field and office duties.
Employee works primarily in an office setting under generally favorable working conditions. There may be walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc. Field work may require lifting objects as heavy as 35 pounds, standing, bending, stooping, and climbing.
Occasional overtime may be required if problems arise. Depending upon position location, some employees may be required to serve on call 24 hours.
ITS Security Requirements:
Selected candidates must agree to and sign the ITS Non-Disclosure Policy, ITS Employee Security Policy, and successfully pass a Criminal Record Background Check performed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department that includes:
An identity verification
A state of residency check for the last ten (10) years
A National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) record and fingerprint check
