Job Title: Senior OSP Engineer
Location: Nashville, TN
Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire
Job Overview
Oversee the management of complex OSP projects involving design and implementation for
new and existing fiber deployments, including placing poles, fiber, conduit, and other OSP
facilities for transportation-based initiatives.
• Create and execute plans associated with Metro OSP infrastructure and all associated
components.
• Manage projects from start to finish, including managing outside vendors and subcontractors
along with managing the financial and payment aspects of the project.
• Provide explanations of the scope of work to contractors, outline expectations and
requirements, and administer each step to construction teams and contractors.
• Review facility placement in the field, compare to engineering design specifications, approve or
deny change orders, and approve invoice payments to contractors.
• Assist in defining, writing, and implementing standards and procedures involving various IT/OSP
technologies.
• Provide clear communication of technical information to both technical and non-technical
audiences.
• Provide updates to senior executives while providing detailed oversight of assigned tasks.
• Collaborate as part of a team to develop plans and drive important business strategies to
provide outstanding customer service, streamline processes, and meet financial goals.
• Collaborate in identifying and addressing gaps in service policies, practices, and procedures and
document each.
• Participate in request for proposal bidding and evaluation for OSP projects
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties
of the position at the appropriate level. Employees would typically have thorough (6 years) experience
in OSP services with demonstrated experience with fiber deployments, vendor management, and
project management. Successful candidates will also have experience communicating complex technical
material to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to analyze complex
information to solve difficult problems.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Extensive background in technical team management and development
• Strong background in OSP operations, including construction standards and utility coordination
processes
• Knowledge and understanding of the Nashville Electric and AT&T pole attachment process or
experience with a similar process in another market
• Knowledge and understanding of fiber deployment technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills
Licenses/Certifications Required:
• Valid "Class D" Driver's License
Environment:
• Work involves both field and office duties.
• Employee works primarily in an office setting under generally favorable working conditions.
There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc. Field work may require
lifting objects as heavy as 35 pounds, standing, bending, stooping, and climbing.
• Occasional overtime may be required if problems arise. Depending upon position location, some
employees may be required to serve on call 24 hours.
ITS Security Requirements:
Selected candidates must agree to and sign the ITS Non-Disclosure Policy, ITS Employee Security Policy,
and successfully pass a Criminal Record Background Check performed by the Metropolitan Nashville
Police Department that includes:
• An identity verification
• A state of residency check for the last ten (10) years
