THE OPPORTUNITY:
In this role, reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, the Category Manager – Finished Goods will play a key role in enabling overall supply chain success. The organization will look to this leader to facilitate the development and deployment of a category-wide sourcing strategy that supports long-term growth objectives, seamlessly launches supplier related new products, drives supply chain quality, delivery, and cost improvements, while creating visibility to supplier related risks and mitigation plans.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Be accountable for setting the plan and delivering multi-year indirect sourcing quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
- Support make vs buy decision making process.
- Lead supplier related new product introduction (NPI) success, and end of product life processes, while supporting overall sku complexity reduction efforts.
- Leverage key relationships with cross-functional leaders in various departments to seek input to refine and improve launch processes.
- Support project management teams in attaining NPI project milestones and/or recovering from timing related misses.
- Instill “design for manufacturing” thinking by engaging suppliers early in the innovation and NPI process.
- Leverage commodity management structure to optimize supplier selection, supply chain risk activities, and supplier relationship management.
- Segment and map spend categories to optimize internal data, work, and information flows.
- Apply 80/20 principles to consolidate supply base for cost and simplification improvement.
- Participate in M&A activities where applicable and support supply chain synergy.
- Lead contract review activities/competence development and grows organizational negotiation skillsets.
- Manage large scale contract reviews and negotiations.
- Analyze macroeconomic trends and global events for arbitrage opportunities, material hedging and tariff risk identification.
- Conduct employee development activities to ensure skills and capabilities are aligned with business growth plans.
YOU'LL BRING:
- 4-6 years of sourcing/supply chain experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Significant experience in strengthening organizational efficiency and service to customers through continuous improvement in business practices and use of ERP systems.
- Deep ERP functionality knowledge.
- Ability to extract data, analyze and convert to usable information, see trends, and draw out actionable insights.
- Understanding of Financial Planning process is desired.
- Superior time management/project management skills and ability to plan and organize multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables, as well as hold others accountable.
- Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to coach others through problem-solving methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.
