THE OPPORTUNITY:
The NPI Intern will work in our state of the art testing lab focusing on analyzing performance data and streamlining/improving workflow data collection. The internship will also have some hands on responsibilities based around 3-D modeling, CNC machining and quality validation. This combination of responsibilities will provide you with exposure to a variety of responsibilities regularly found in an engineering career path.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Collect, organize, and analyze performance data (e.g., tool wear, cycle times)
- Help set up and execute standard and custom testing for cutting tool performance, including wear resistance, cycle time, and material compatibility.
- Identify opportunities to reduce setup time and improve accuracy in test runs, suggesting tool or process adjustments
- Streamline & improve the TPR workflow to collect data, minimize delays and develop a reporting database for customer facing teams.
- Explore ways to automate data collection during testing or enhance the process with new technologies (e.g., sensors or digital data capture systems).
- Develop standardized templates for test reports, user manuals, and product data sheets. Ensure that all NPD documents are easily accessible and up-to-date.
- Perform 3D modeling
- Hands on work with CNC machining, quality validation & inspection
YOU’LL BRING:
- Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or manufacturing related field
- Working understanding of math functions, and concepts of algebra and geometry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive attitude and desire to make the most of your summer internship
