An RV Prep Tech is responsible for thoroughly inspecting new and used units before delivery to a customer, ensuring all systems are functioning properly, performing necessary adjustments, essentially acting as the final quality check before the customer takes possession of their RV.
Potential Career Paths:
- RV PDI Tech: Troubleshoots entry level repairs to water, sewage, plumbing, propane, and electrical wiring as needed, assists in the repairs of structural components, winterize and de-winterize campers of all kinds
- RV Service Technician: Advance to a certified RV service technician role performing all types of repairs and maintenance on RVs
Key Responsibilities of an RV Delivery Technician:
- Comprehensive inspection: Conduct a detailed examination of the RV's interior and exterior, including appliances, electrical systems, plumbing, heating/cooling systems, windows, doors, slide-outs, awnings, and chassis components
- Functionality testing: Test all appliances, electrical outlets, water systems, generators, lighting, and other features to verify proper operation
- Pre-delivery repairs: Address any minor defects or issues identified during the inspection, performing necessary adjustments or repairs as needed
- Documentation: Complete detailed inspection reports, noting any findings, repairs made
- Compliance with standards: Adhere to manufacturer guidelines, safety regulations, and company policies regarding RV delivery procedures
Skills and Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude: understanding of RV systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and chassis components
- Diagnostic skills: Ability to troubleshoot and identify potential issues with RV systems
- Attention to detail: Thoroughness in inspections and meticulous approach to identifying minor issues
- Valid driver's license: with a clean driving record
- Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting: preferred but not required
- Availability: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:30AM, plus every other Saturday (rotating 5 day work week)
- Equipment: Must have own tools, specialty tools will be provided
- Must be able to operate a forklift
Physical Requirements:
- Availability to work more than 40 hours a week including nights, weekends, and whenever needed to meet business needs
- Flexibility to cover changing work schedules as needed
- Ability to lift to 70 pounds
- Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, push and pull
- Must be able to stand / walk for extended periods of time
- Potential exposure to heights and hazards
- Exposure to environmental conditions including heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust, and wetness
- Ability to work in changing climates and work outside for extended periods

Education, Experience, and Work Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
- RVIA certification preferred but not required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
