Job Description
We are looking for a reliable Engineering Technician who plays a critical role in executing projects that cover three key areas: Continuous Improvement, Strategic Initiatives and Innovation. The engineering technician is a higher-level technician that works with their hands and their mind. This role will touch multiple disciplines including but not limited to safety, design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, operator interface, training, testing, teamwork, research and development, facility upgrades, new facility construction and so much more.
Responsibilities
- Assist in design of prototype and production chemical manufacturing and product packaging equipment and fixtures to aid production of machined parts
- Conduct mechanical and electrical fabrication, assembly, and integration of manufacturing and packaging equipment at all company facilities
- Responsible for utilizing basic tool room equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, drill press, and hand tools
- Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot tooling issues with respect to jigs, fixtures and assembly
- Assist in design of prototype and production chemical manufacturing and product packaging equipment
- Utilize equipment blueprints, drawings and other specification papers to fabricate and assemble equipment
- Follow all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment, personal protective equipment, and procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
- Proven experience in fabrication & machining; lathe, mill, and welding machinery experience
- Basic understanding of electrical control systems with ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair basic electrical wiring and control circuits
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
- Good with analytical math abilities and capable to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Strong communication skills with ability to work independently and able to follow instructions with clear attention to detail
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
- Strong communication skills and ability work independently and with other team members
- Background in chemical manufacturing & liquid packaging is preferred
- This position will require 30% travel
