Through motivational conversations and solution-focused approaches, she / he will provide information and support in efforts to prevent disease and promote well-being for HHSWC participants on the spectrum of topics covered by the wellness center. She / he will conduct one-on-one and group education and outreach sessions to promote, maintain, and improve the health of HHSWC participants by assisting them in adopting healthy behaviors through education and demonstration. The position also entails an administrative role in tracking and monitoring specific outcomes, evaluating changes in knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs, assisting in reporting to grantees, and other administrative tasks as assigned.SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY : The Health Educator will report to the Center Director on the routine activities at the Center and to the Program Director on accomplishing DACL required goals.NATURE AND SCOPE : Internal contacts are the Center Director and Program Director / PI. A graduate degree in Public Health or Health Promotion is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be very organized, flexible and self-motivated reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
