What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Casualty Claim Representative position at Hastings Mutual?
Hastings Insurance is currently looking for an Associate Claim Representative to join our Casualty team! The individual in this role investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves Personal, Commercial, and Farm claims through effective research, negotiation, and interaction with policyholders, claimants, and agents in accordance with the Company's contractual and legal obligations while providing an outstanding customer experience.
Position Location & Work Format
This position will work from our Hastings, Michigan offices in a hybrid (combination of work-from-home and in-office) arrangement. However, we will also consider candidates who reside in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, or Wisconsin to work remotely. Regardless of the work location, this position will work during Hastings normal business hours of Monday - Friday, 8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages a pending inventory of claims and ensures they are properly adjudicated to resolution.
Handles low and occasionally moderately complex first-party Personal, Commercial, and Farm property claims by phone, mail, or with the use of virtual adjustment tools and techniques.
Prepares necessary correspondence to settle claims with policyholders or their legal representatives and issues indemnity and expense payments with accuracy.
Minimal independent, outside coverage analysis only as approved by the Manager or Director.
Determines root cause of loss, subrogation and salvage potential, and any suspicious circumstances on low and sometimes moderately complex property claims.
Scopes claims that asking probing questions and obtaining supporting information can be done virtually to write personal property and small building loss estimates.
