Hastings Water Works is looking for driven and capable candidates to join our professional and experienced Aquatics team as lifeguards this summer. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining surveillance in the chair or on the pool deck while on duty.
- Rescue ready at all times.
- Immediately respond to emergencies whenever they should arise.
- Enforce all HWW and Facility specific rules.
- Responsible for assigned opening before the facility opens and the closing procedures before the facility is secured at close. These responsibilities include tasks such as testing water chemistry.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
SKILLS/BEHAVIORS:
- Ability to Swim 150 yards without stopping, then tread water for 2 minutes without using your hands, then swim an additional 50 yards without stopping.
- Ability to swim 20 yards; dive to the bottom of a 9 foot pool and retrieve a 10 pound brick, swim on your back for 20 yards while holding the brick in both hands, and exit the swimming pool, all within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
- Have reliable transportation and ability to travel to different locations within a 10 mile radius of your scheduled facility.
- Have a smart phone with data and location services.
- Consistency and punctuality in showing up for all assigned shifts.
- Possess strong customer service skills.
- Possess strong communication skills, including public speaking and active listening.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities at any given time.
- Goal and results oriented.
- Possess a high level of enthusiasm.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum age of 16 years of age
- High School Diploma, GED, or currently working towards a High School Diploma or GED
- American Red Cross Certification (Lifeguarding with First Aid, CPR and AED)
