Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Duties
- Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Monitor patients’ health and well-being, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Support clients in daily living activities such as meal preparation, medication management, and transportation.
- Assist with heavy lifting and physical support as needed to ensure client mobility and safety.
- Uphold resident rights by promoting dignity, respect, and independence for all individuals served.
- Engage clients in social activities and community integration to enhance their quality of life.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and any incidents or observations during shifts.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in long-term care settings such as group homes or assisted living is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for clients’ needs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to proper lifting techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others achieve their personal goals.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the needs of the clients.
