What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler - 2nd Shift position at Hatch Stamping Company?
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Must be able to load/unload trucks. Must have at least 3 years of truck loading/unloading experience.
To manually, by hand truck or by forklift truck, to move materials, supplies and finished goods to designated places in the facility and ensure that the presses are kept running.
All employees must pass the Company's written exam for forklift driving prior to operating a forklift.
Must portray good Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, Attendance habits, and be able to perform in a team-oriented environment. Perform other tasks as required by the Supervisor.
Must have a valid HSC Forklift driver’s license. Display a good understanding of the safe operation and knowledge of equipment. Must also possess the ability to take direction from peers and supervision to optimize the time involved in the learning process.
Possess a good understanding of the process flow as well as designated staging areas and material flow throughout the plant.
Load and unload material as needed to ensure that the material does not run out during the job currently being run, or so preparation for the next job can be started.
Load and unload dies from the presses in a safe and orderly fashion as well as cleaning the dies of any scrap that may be accumulated. Also, return the dies in the proper location and ensure that they are properly blocked with wood or rubber if stored on the ground.
Load tubing into WIP rack at the press and band finished bundles of tubing.
Move parts to their designated areas and dispose of scrap in the appropriate scrap bins, replacing parts containers with new ones when the others are removed.
Keep the floor in the area of the material rack clear by putting away all the material that is not in use.
Stack pallets in their designated areas and empty waste oil in the appropriate containers without interrupting production.
Report any and all equipment that is in need of repair and perform minor routine maintenance on the equipment where applicable.
Must have the ability to read the production schedule and determine the next job to be set and stage the material and the tool.
Display a good understanding of the safe operation and knowledge of equipment.

Must possess the motivation and ability to train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of a lift truck.
Must have the ability to read a shipping manifest, stage shipments, scan shipments, label shipments, and load customer trucks for shipment.
Must have the ability to unload and receive supplier shipments into raw material.
Load tubing into WIP rack at the press and band finished bundles of tubing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must determine by looking at the schedule, which jobs to stage and the order in which to stage them.
Loading and unloading material so that the material does not run out during the job currently running, or so preparation for the next job can be started. This would include raw material on reels, tubes (un-banding & banding), and WIP for the weld and assembly cells.
Move parts to their designated places and dispose of scrap in the appropriate scrap bins, replacing parts containers with new ones when the others are removed.
Keep the floor in the area of the material rack clean by putting away all material that is not in use.
Stack pallets in designated areas and empty waste oil in the appropriate containers without interrupting production.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of weight.
Overhead crane training and certification.
Must have valid forklift License.
REQUIREMENT:
Must wear personal protective equipment as required.
Follow plant safety rules and guidelines.
Must have a valid HSC forklift driver's license.
Required training in QMS-EMS.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.25 - $19.50 per hour
