As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, maintaining, and integrating local and wide-area network infrastructure. You will also contribute to the edge networking architecture across the Enterprise. The role requires hands-on experience in a large environment and an ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Infrastructure Management:
- Install, configure, maintain, and manage switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN edge appliances, wireless infrastructure, and cellular-based appliances.
- Perform network management functions using industry tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network problems.
- Network Architecture & Design:
- Assist in the planning and design of LAN/WAN network architecture, including bandwidth analysis and capacity planning.
- Develop detailed specifications and schematic engineering drawings for network enhancements and modifications.
- Deployment & Upgrades:
- Support network deployments and upgrades and assist in change management efforts within the edge networking team.
- Coordinate with agencies and other teams to ensure smooth change management processes.
- Troubleshooting & Support:
- Manage Service Now trouble ticket resolution and ensure that incidents are documented appropriately.
- Provide tier 2 support for widespread events and assist with complex network issues.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with users, service providers, business partners, and other teams to resolve issues.
- Participate in evaluations and provide recommendations on emerging technologies and hardware refresh cycles.
- Security & Documentation:
- Ensure that network infrastructure meets or exceeds security requirements.
- Create and maintain documentation for network configurations and deployments, including Visio diagrams.
- Support remote IT staff and business partners with network-related issues and deployments.
- Other Duties:
- Contribute to the design of highly complex networks, recommend optimizations, and assist in preparing technical solutions.
- Network Switching: 4 years of experience
- Network Routing: 3 years of experience
- Certifications:
- CCNA: Highly desired
- CCNP: Desired
- SD-WAN: Experience is desired
- Tools & Protocols:
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools and automation
- Working knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF)
- Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills for network issues
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering).
- Certifications:
- CCNA and/or CCNP (preferred).
- SD-WAN experience is a plus.
- Experience:
- Hands-on experience with network infrastructure in a large environment.
- Strong understanding of network design, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
