Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s learning needs and goals, including IEPs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and school staff to integrate special education services into the overall school program.
- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to assist students in developing academic, social, and emotional skills.
- Regularly assess students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters growth and learning for all students.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding students’ progress and needs.
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, providing detailed reports and evaluations of students’ performance.
- Adhere to all state and federal laws related to special education, ensuring all students receive the support they need.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Certification: Valid Special Education Teaching License for the state of Illinois.
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with special needs is preferred, especially in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Skills: Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. The ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
- Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with virtual teaching tools, IEP management systems, and other educational software.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with mild to moderate disabilities.
- Knowledge of various instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
- A passion for creating inclusive learning environments.
