DEPARTMENT : Serengeti Springs Waterpark
REPORTS TO : Director of Zoo Guest Services and Retail Department
LOCATION : Primarily - Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo. Secondarily - the Fusion Fortress which includes nine water slides of varying heights, some straight and several with twists and turns, including the “Serengeti Swirl” bowl slide. In addition, this area will include multiple water-play areas, water engagement apparatus on the steps and decks and two bucket dump stations. This position also serves the Lazy River, a swimming and tubing river with a connect pool and swim-up food and beverage station.
SHIFT : Serengeti Springs Waterpark will operate seven (7) days per week from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Seasonal Full-Time - Generally 40 hours per week on an alternating schedule of weekdays and weekends, with occasional nights, holidays and special events as required.
Seasonal Part-Time - Varied weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. Maximum of 29 hours per week.
SUMMARY : We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Attractions Operator at the Hattiesburg Zoo. As an operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our guests while they enjoy our High Ropes Adventure Course, Train and Carousel and Mining Expedition attractions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Operate the High Ropes Adventure Course, Train, Carousel, and Mining Expedition attractions, including inspecting equipment, ensuring proper use, and maintaining safety standards
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting guests with questions, concerns, and special needs
- Monitor guests while they are on the attractions to ensure their safety and enjoyment
- Assist with crowd control and ride safety, including ensuring that guests are appropriately sized and wearing appropriate clothing and footwear
- Clean and maintain attractions, including removing trash, debris, and safety equipment
- Work in mild to extreme weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, rain, and wind
- Traverse a course that stands 40 ft. while wearing appropriate safety equipment
- Stand for long periods of time while monitoring guests and ensuring ride safety
- Pass an operator training assessment, which will include a written and practical test to demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures, equipment uses, and emergency response protocols
