What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barback/Food Runner position at Havana '59?
Havana '59 in Shockoe Bottom is looking for motivated and energetic barbacks and food runners to join our team. Experience is always a plus but no required.
Barbacking with us will entail receiving deliveries, stocking the bar before service, limited prep, supporting the bartenders during service, and helping to break down the bar after service. Pay starts at $5 an hour with a twenty percent tip out from the bar's tip pool. Come to work on time, be an asset for the team, and have a good attitude and raised are available to you! Barbacks must be at least 21 years of age.
Food running will entail running an expo window alongside the floor manager, taking food to tables on the dining floor, as well as taking food to the second and third floor rooftop balconies. Ability to use a large serving tray is invaluable for this position. This is a skill that we are more than happy to teach you. Starting hourly pay will vary based on experience for this position in addition to a percentage of the floor staff's food sales.
This is an open air restaurant with a smoking section. It will be hot at times and guests will actively be smoking tobacco. You must be okay with these things!
