About the Position
Havarti Risk, a dynamic health care company, is committed to supporting Actuarial students eager to apply their knowledge innovatively while collaborating with our team’s expertise to develop cutting-edge risk solutions. We are an underwriting and risk services company led by experienced and former Health Insurer Chief Actuaries. This internship is designed to offer the selected individual training and education about high-cost healthcare patient patterns and risk solutions. As an intern, you have direct contact, and thus learning opportunities, from many of Havarti’s senior leaders and advisors. This is a chance to gain valuable insight into a complex industry and the significant impact that actuaries can have.
We are looking for a committed individual who is committed to the path of FSA certification, possesses excellent analytical skills, and is capable of working both independently and in teams with diverse backgrounds. What you will do
Havarti Risk is a rapidly growing company, which will allow our Actuarial interns exposure to a wide range of opportunities over the summer and is not limited to the following:
- Assist and support activities related to the underwriting and quoting process
- Analyze data to answer real-world questions and think critically through solutions
- Participate in high level project meetings to learn about actuarial work and how it relates to parts of the business
- Meet with experienced leaders to learn and provide input in a rapidly growing environment
- Exposure and use of new and innovative actuarial risk prediction and modeling tools
- Learn about the different parts of Havarti’s business model and operational effectiveness
- Learn about how risk is managed in the U.S. healthcare economy
- Create and present an end-of-summer review to multiple former chief actuaries
Requirements
Term: May 27, 2025 – August 1, 2025 (start/end date flexible)
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Work Authorization: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Education
- Planning to graduate in May 2026 with a bachelor's degree
- Progressing towards or completion of a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or other related area
- Success in passing at least one SOA/CAS exam
- Previous successful work experience of any type is required
