The Media Planner plays a critical role in the development of cross-channel media strategies by blending analytical thinking, consumer research, and strategic insights. This position requires a strong ability to interpret data, identify key trends, and translate findings into actionable media plans.
Working closely with Client Leadership, Business Development, Client Services, and Activation teams, the Strategy Group Planner helps craft integrated media recommendations, ensuring that strategic direction aligns with client objectives. This role requires both technical expertise and creative problem-solving, with a focus on delivering data-driven strategies that drive performance.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Develop a strong understanding of client business objectives and the consumer journey, ensuring media strategies align with business needs.
- Assist Strategy Group Managers in fulfilling cross-channel media planning and achieving key performance goals.
- Support the development, execution, and optimization of multi-channel strategies across TV, radio, print, digital, OOH, and specialty media.
- Contribute to the creation of client-facing media plan presentations, including flowcharts, KPIs, and budget summaries.
- Gain proficiency in key media research tools and syndicated databases.
- Create media briefs for internal Client Services and Activation teams.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret research data to support the development of strategic media plans.
- Maintain flowcharts, buying guidelines, and budget summaries to ensure alignment with client objectives.
- Assist in troubleshooting challenges that arise in media execution, working collaboratively with media, analytics, creative, and account teams.
- Work closely with Analytics to assess campaign performance and effectiveness based on established KPIs.
- Review and verify the accuracy of media planning materials to ensure data integrity before client or internal team use.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging media technologies, and new marketing opportunities that could impact strategy development.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of media agency experience in a strategy, media planning, or research.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw insights from syndicated research tools such as Nielsen AdIntel, Google Analytics, ComScore, and Simmons.
- Solid quantitative understanding of media planning and buying, with a working knowledge of channel strengths and weaknesses.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, strategic recommendations.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to develop compelling reports and presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Background in direct response or performance marketing is preferred.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset, able to build strong cross-functional relationships.
