The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership abilities, deep expertise in accounting principles, and a proven track record in managing financial operations, preferably in a hospitality and casino setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:::
- Responsible for all financial and accounting functions, such as financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, bank reconciliation, cash flow reports, leases, and contracts.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry regulations.
- Accountable for workforce planning and the firing, training and supervision of the accounting/audit staff and oversee the count team. Handling discipline in accordance with the enterprise’s procedures and conducting regular performance appraisals for accounting staff.
- Review departmental reports, addressing potential conflicts and/or misinformation. Proving support to management, particularly in financial and budget matters.
- Analyze financial data to assess performance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, collaborating with department heads to align financial plans with organizational goals.
- Preparing and presenting timely monthly and annual financial statement to senior leadership, board members and Tribal Council.
- Participate in monthly financial statement review. Attend managerial, council, and write-off meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all State and Tribal gaming regulations and the Tribal adopted minimum internal controls.
- Document and report on audits related to NIGC MICS, Tribal Internal Controls, and other policies and procedures.
- Oversee and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering an environment of accuracy, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Effective leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate across departments.

- Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Qualifications::
- Must be twenty-one or older, qualify for gaming license and pass pre-employment drug test.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant required.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in hospitality and/or casino.
- Must be able to communicate in the primary language of the workplace.
- Proficiency in accounting software, Sage, Agilysys, Paylocity, M3, QuickBooks, and Microsoft 365.
