Position: Men's Shelter Security
Position is full-time 32 to 40 hours per week on third shift. May also include second shift.
Description: The Shelter Security position is a collaborative supporter and a member of Have Mercy’s Team with the objective to support the mission of Have Mercy and the clients served by assisting them with their needs while establishing and maintaining an environment that is consistent with agency values.
Essential Functions: include but are not limited to. . .
· Monitor and maintain the peace of the shelter, providing for the overall safety of clients, volunteers, and staff
· Make rounds, check doors and perimeters, and monitor cameras for multiple facilities
· Provide immediate and professional response to any security concern, medical emergency, safety emergency or disturbance within or outside the facility.
· Mediate client conflicts to a satisfactory conclusion
· Oversee client medication disbursement
· Complete agency logs and incident reports in a timely manner
· Provide consistent coverage for assigned shifts, working within the team and independently to complete all shift tasks.
· Maintain order and assist in keeping all areas clean and free of safety hazards
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prefer experience in residential care or group homes. Background in corrections, law enforcement or security is beneficial.
- Prefer certification in CPR and First Aid. A medical background is valuable to this position.
- Prefer background in mental health, substance abuse and homelessness
- Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries is a must
- Ability to demonstrate compassion, sensitivity, and to respect the privacy and special needs of our clients
- Must maintain a high regard for confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment
- Ability to respond confidently in emergency and crisis situations
- Must possess a high degree of common sense and be prompt and dependable
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
- Pass a criminal background check
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Occasional local driving and travel may be required
- Ability to lift 25 lbs, climb stairs, sit, stand, bend, reach
- A smiling face and good attitude are required.
Start Salary Range: The starting pay range is $14.00 - $15.00 per hour and is dependent upon education and experience
