Haven Behavioral Hospital of Phoenix is a 58-bed licensed, acute care behavioral hospital that provides a safe, nurturing environment for the treatment of complex mental health issues. We offer innovative, customized treatment in both inpatient and outpatient programs for individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. Position Summary :
The Business Office Manager manages all Business Office, Accounting, and Utilization Review processes at the facility and acts as the liaison between the facility and corporate financial operations. This role is critical to ensuring the financial and operational success of the hospital.
Primary Duties : Business Office :
- Act as a member of the hospital’s leadership team and participate in weekly meetings to discuss matters of significance to the operation.
- Gather patient demographic information and primary / secondary insurance coverage details through interviews with patients, families, external agencies, and referring hospitals.
- Verify insurance benefits and communicate verified insurance information to facility staff in a timely and complete manner.
- Initiate completion of required paperwork and coordinate with the Centralized Business Office (CBO) on denials or other account-related issues.
Authorization and Financial Counseling :
Obtain authorization for each admitted patient and monitor the authorization process to proactively identify potential issues.
Interact with physicians and therapists to ensure patient assessments and treatment plans are accurately reflected in facility documentation.

Qualifications :
Experience :
Two (2) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric facility with knowledge of medical terminology and criteria for acute psychiatric inpatient care.
Knowledge of insurance coverage and billing practices preferred.
Three to five years of business office experience, preferably in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Working knowledge of Medicare / Medicaid and the insurance verification process.
Previous experience in utilization review or case management required.
