POSITION SUMMARY
The Director Plant Operations is responsible for managing Plant Operations, Maintenance, Environmental Services, Safety and Security activities within the facility. This position performs surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and has extensive knowledge with TJC, CMS, and other regulatory agencies' requirements. The Director Plant Operations supports programs to include, but limited to, hazardous materials, law and insurance regulations, buildings, grounds, equipment, and occupant safety. This role may also provide guidance on construction/remodeling projects within the facility upon direction from corporate Plant Operations leadership. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, the State Department of Public Health, companies policies and procedures, and QAPI Standards.
- Responsible for establishment and oversight of the facility’s Plant Operations functions to include facility maintenance, life safety and housekeeping operations.
- Ensures that the facility's Plant Operations and Safety forms meet regulatory standards and serve to provide adequate documentation of the hospital's plant operations functions.
- Inspects the facility for proper operation and working conditions. Maintains maintenance records to the extent of malfunction of equipment. Collaborates with corporate Plant Operations leadership to review the records for auditing and training (when applicable).
- Leads the process in the facility in obtaining bids. Collaborates with the corporate Plant Operations leadership in scheduling and coordinating repairs/replacements beyond the scope of the hospital Director Plant Operations with outside vendors.
- Oversees the Plant Operations staff day-to-day operations, to ensure that general semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, alternation and repairs to machinery, equipment, or the facility is in accordance with basic skills and abilities, and standard procedures diagrams or manufacturer’s instructions.
- Serves as a trainer to the facility for Crisis Intervention and De-escalation training.
- Conducts audits of the facility’s compliance with Life Safety Standards. Prepares and reviews findings with Plant Operations Department staff to determine plans of correction. Works collaboratively with corporate Plant Operations leadership to ensure plans of correction are appropriate.
- Collaborates with the corporate Plant Operations leadership for construction/remodeling projects. Works collaboratively with the operational leadership to ensure that all projects meet safety standards and are cost-effective for the facility.
- Serves as the Hospital Safety Officer. Schedules regular meetings. Provides the Hospital Leadership Team with information and recommendations for ensuring practices and resources are in place to promote a safe workplace for all employees and safe care environment for all patients; additionally coordinates and maintains the Housekeeping Department to ensure the hospital is safely cleaned and well maintained daily.
- Determines cause of problems; formulates and evaluates possible solutions; knows where to obtain information; solicits input from others when appropriate.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree in Engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five years in Facilities Management.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience in management/supervision of a Plant Operations Department including (EVS, Security, Grounds, Biomed, etc.)
