SUMMARY.
The primary function of the Campus Life Manager (CLM) is to help provide direct supervision of the Campus Life Staff of Haven for Hope, oversight of daily Campus Life operations, and oversight of the programmatic efforts of the campus to include a recovery model approach. This position's schedule will be daytime, evenings, weekends, and overnights as needed. This position requires advanced skills with active engagement, conflict resolution, and relationship-building, as the Manager’s role is to support the Campus Life Staff with learning and developing those skills. The Manager reports to the Director of Campus Life.
The Manager must possess excellent judgment and the ability to handle crisis situations maturely and calmly. The Manager must possess strong creative and critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions. The Manager must also be sensitive to the dynamics associated with homelessness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Assist the leadership to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and funding requirements.
- Assist Campus Life in all aspects of serving clients, including on and off Campus functions.
- Partner with other Haven departments in order to provide adequate services to all clients.
- Provide direct support and supervision to the Campus Life Team, including hiring, performance coaching, and scheduling of staff.
- Support staff professional development and uphold performance standards. Create professional development plans with staff and continually reflect on professional growth and progress to ensure team members are connected with learning and training opportunities.
- Ensure staff receive the necessary training to perform their specific position to include completion and entering required documentation on services provided to the clients in HMIS (Homeless Management Information System), and completion of the daily functions of the department. Ensure the proper training of new staff and ongoing training of existing staff to include CPR, motivational interviewing, recovery model, conflict resolution, and others.
- Ensure that departmental policies and procedures and safety protocols are clear, effective, and followed to reduce possible risks of harm to team members or others. Ensure policies and procedures are consistently communicated and practiced inside and outside of the department. Identify areas where there could be improvements and propose suggestions.
- Provide direct services to clients.
- Coordinate with other service providers (internal and external) to ensure guests are referred to appropriate services.
- Report all incidents promptly and appropriately.
- Work with partnering agencies to provide more effective services on Campus.
- Meet with clients to answer questions, de-escalate situations, and settle grievances.
- Suggest adjustments that will lead to more effective service delivery.
- Conduct meetings with staff to review procedures, discuss workplace issues, and share ideas to improve customer service and the organization in general.
- Maintain necessary documentation, reports, and data.
- Maintain staff schedules, time sheets, and prepare payroll.
- Update and integrate training bulletins.
- Provide supervision to staff to ensure individual and team growth and development.
- Along with other staff members, complete dormitory/common area health and welfare inspections as needed.
- Assist in data collection and preparation of statistical reports, as needed.
- Complete reports by date and time set by leadership.
- Focus on a strength-based approach to the utilization of staff to provide the best and most efficient services to all clients, co-workers, and partner staff on the Haven for Hope Campus.
- Conduct performance evaluations with assigned team members and provide ongoing professional development support.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise all Campus Life Staff and Supervisors. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

- Knowledge of local housing programs and requirements, and homeless services within the Bexar County area
- Familiarity with Federal and State Local Agencies involved in housing and housing policy.
- Ability to handle crisis situations at a mature level.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and prior experience working with the homeless is preferred. Three or more years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a social service, mental health, education, recovery, residential, and direct care type of employment is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License and auto insurance. Candidates must also have successfully completed training required to care for and serve clients, including certification in CPR/First Aid/AED and other trainings including Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Planning, Trauma Informed Care, Positive Behavior Supports, Time Management, Anger Management, and HMIS Training, or complete such trainings within a prescribed period following hire.

This position will require normal walking and ambulatory requirements to navigate Haven’s 22-acre campus and the many buildings in which our clients live and/or receive services. This position will require the ability to stand or walk for eight or more hours per day, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and perform normal data entry, computer, and office tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position may frequently require work to be performed in an outdoor environment, sometimes in inclement weather, and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
