SUMMARY

The C-Shift Campus Life Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that Haven for Hope is a safe and welcoming environment for all clients residing in any of our programs. The Campus Life Supervisor’s key responsibility is assisting in creating, operating, and managing an environment that supports safety and healing for residents and staff. Campus Life Supervisor applies frameworks that focus on ensuring dignity, respect, community, and accountability to self and others and integrates the components of Haven for Hope’s core values and philosophies of care: Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed, and Recovery-Oriented. Campus Life Supervisor provides support and supervision to all Campus Life Staff, oversight of daily operations, and oversight of the programmatic efforts of the campus. This position requires advanced skills in active engagement, conflict resolution, and relationship-building as the Campus Life Supervisor’s role is to support the Campus Life Staff with learning and developing those skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

SUPERVISION

  • Provides support to the Manager with supervision of Team Leads and Campus Life Navigators.
  • Sets a positive and engagement-focused tone to ensure that all activities and interactions are proactive, focused on engaging residents in services according to their goals and needs, and designed to reinforce to residents a sense of hope and belonging to a larger community.
  • Supports staff professional development and upholds performance standards. Creates professional development plans with staff and continually reflects on professional growth and progress to ensure Team Members are connected with learning and training opportunities.
  • Provides supervision of Campus Life staff to ensure individual and team growth and development
  • Ensures that departmental policies and procedures and safety protocols are clear, effective, and followed to reduce possible risks of harm to team members or others. Ensures policies and procedures are consistently communicated and practiced inside and outside of the department. Identifies areas where there could be improvements and proposes suggestions.

OPERATIONS

  • Provides expert advice to Managers and/or specialty programs on operational matters.
  • Acts as the operational secondary lead and contact person in all matters related to safety and security for Campus operations.
  • Monitors Campus Life areas, identifying and resolving health and safety hazards. Works closely with the Facilities department as needed to review task completion and proper documentation.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities to improve the level and quality of service to residents through analysis of feedback from residents, partners, community feedback, and informed practice.
  • Works in a highly collaborative way with Haven departments and partner agencies under the guidance of the Vice President of Transformational Operations. Regularly reviews and analyzes information relevant to departmental performance on outputs and outcomes, in particular, key indicators of safety, intervention, engagement, and data entry. Suggests adjustments that will lead to more effective service delivery.
  • Conducts meetings with staff to review procedures, discuss workplace issues, and share ideas to improve customer service and the organization in general.
  • Meets with residents to answer questions, de-escalate situations, and settle grievances.
  • Maintains necessary documentation, reports, and statistics
  • Completes reports by due date
  • This position will have a typical overnight work schedule
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supports the Manager in supervising all Campus Life Staff; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

  • Specialized knowledge based on the impact of diverse stressors on children, family, and relational dynamics and how to effectively deliver interventions to each member of the family system.
  • Ability to review, learn, follow, and adapt evidenced-based treatment programs to deliver to diverse client groups.
  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity to persons with disabilities and underserved populations.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to represent Haven for Hope and support clients with histories of homelessness and traumas.
  • Excellent administrative ability, including organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong computer skills
  • Ability to be self-directed and takes initiative, which includes the ability to discern when to seek supervision
  • Strong creative and critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and be invested as a member of the assigned Haven for Hope Team.
  • Knowledge of local housing programs and requirements, and homeless services within the Bexar County area
  • Familiarity with Federal and State Local Agencies involved in housing and housing policy.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations at a mature level.
  • Manage complex and dynamic situations with patience, flexibility, and team orientation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in social service or a related field is preferred. Two or more years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a social service, mental health, education, recovery, residential, and direct care type of employment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver's License.

Due to the size of the Haven for Hope campus, a great amount of walking will be required, including climbing stairs. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
