POSITION TITLE: Crisis Response Specialist Lead
POSITION LEVEL: Supervisor
SUPERVISOR: Shelter Program Manager
ABOUT HAVEN:
HAVEN is a catalyst for individual empowerment and societal change: advocating for those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking and working to end gender-based violence. HAVEN has been serving adults and children affected by domestic and sexual violence for over 40 years. At HAVEN, we use a trauma-informed, client-centered service model, which focuses on the client setting the direction, establishing their own goals and objectives, and being empowered to make their decisions.
This position IS NOT subject to mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse because 1) This position provides services to adults only and so is not subject to mandated reporting under CANRA OR 2) This position does not present in schools as part of a child abuse prevention program. Such a report, including sharing identifying information with a mandated reporter position at HAVEN, without following "release of confidential information" policies is a breach of confidentiality and can result in termination.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery
- Responsible for the supervision and training of all Crisis Response Specialists and Shelter Volunteers.
- Oversee shelter schedule and coordinate coverage for open shifts and holidays.
- Hold regularly scheduled individual/program meetings with Crisis Response Specialists and volunteers.
- Review, approve, and submit, time sheets for all Crisis Response Specialist staff and Shelter volunteers.
- Conduct annual performance reviews
- Answer Crisis Lines
- Assess client needs and assist with crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to appropriate community resources
- Provide advocacy for clients when necessary
- Oversee safety and functioning of shelter while on shift
- Assist clients with problem solving when needed
- Provide positive role modeling and interaction with clients at all times
General
- Typing, filing and basic clerical duties; other duties as assigned
- Update client files and document all statistical data
- Attend staff meetings and training as required
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, law enforcement and other community partners
MINIMUM / DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual: Preferred but not required
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Effective problem-solving abilities
- Sufficient verbal, telephone and written communications skills.
- Ability to provide services to and work with diverse populations
- General office skills, including typing and internet use.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and be able to work independently.
