What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Receiving Specialist position at Haven Humane Society?
Must be comfortable handling dogs, cats, birds, snakes, bats, and small wildlife.
Must have computer experience to download photos, enter data, look up maps, and search social media posts.
Enter incoming animals in the shelter’s computer program including taking photos and uploading photos to shelter management software and Facebook.
Scan incoming animals for microchip. Check lost and found reports for matches.
Take bite reports. Back up radio dispatching during breaks.
Maintain contact with the public in a professional manner.
Performs and assists with general office duties and special projects upon request.
Accurately completes all paperwork pertaining to receiving and all animal stats.
Compiles statistical reports on calls to service for other agencies.
Calculate appropriate fees for impounded animals returning to owner.
Monitor daily money/receipts through receiving office and balance cash drawer with transactions.
Answer the phone for Redding and Anderson Animal Regulation. Sell dog licenses. Issue spay/neuter vouchers and manage cat trap rentals.
Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to build the volunteer base, and ensure training is adequately developed to prevent injury and ensure an enjoyable volunteer experience.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Captain of Animal Regulation.
Schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
