We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver for our 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am (Noc Shift) position, to provide safe and competent care to our residents. YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT ACTIVE NAC or HCA License. YOU MUST BE NURSE DELEGATED, BOTH CORE AND DIABETES. The ideal candidate must be able to respond immediately to call lights and must always use universal precautions with every resident. The caregiver will be responsible for aiding with shower, bathing, dressing, grooming, nail care, foot care, oral care, skin care, toileting, eating, communication, mobility, transfers, incontinent care, safety, re-direct behavior, medication assistance, oxygen administration, vital signs, and weight.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, competent, and compassionate care to all residents, at all times.
- Respond immediately to call lights.
- Read residents' plan of care when returning from your day off to see if there are any changes.
- Always use universal precautions with every resident.
- Transfer residents using gait belt.
- Assist residents to attend activities.
- Replace hand soap and paper towels as needed.
- Alert supervisor when repairs are needed or when light bulbs are out.
- Read to residents when time permits.
- Keep residents' rooms clean, organized, and well-stocked (do not overstock).
- Observe for any safety hazards in resident's room, bathroom, and/or closets. Correct if possible. If not, alert supervisor at once.
- Always do rounds on residents with previous shift caregiver, read daily shift report, and document in shift report at the end of every shift.
- Clean residents' hands and mouth after meals if they need help.
- When helping resident dress or undress, observe skin for bruises, redness, rashes, skin tears, or open wounds. Report to Director of Residence Care immediately and fill out an incident report.
- Keep residents' rooms, hallways, and paths clean and safe.
- Keep residents' clothes clean and organized.
- Keep living and dining room clean.
- Help serve meals and feed residents as needed.
- Must wear clean, wrinkle-free scrubs with clean, comfortable, and enclosed shoes.
- Must be reliable, come to work on time, and complete the shift.
- Must document all bowel movements.
- Assist new residents with setting up their rooms and putting items and clothes away.
- Write resident's name on tag in the collar of clothes.
- Assist residents when moving out.
- Fill out incident reports with full vital signs when needed and turn them into LPN or RN.
- Report any changes noticed in resident color, behavior, breathing, mobility, change in urine color or smell, or any other concerns to the LPN and Director of Residence Care immediately.
- Assist RN/LPN with doing residents' vital signs and weight every Monday.
- Adhere to the duties of your specific shift that is found in the blue procedure binder.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a NAC or HCA
- Nurse delegation completed, both core and diabetes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and write in English.
