Position Title : Childcare Assistant Teacher

Status : Per Diem

Department : Little Learners

Reports To : Childcare Director

FLSA Classification : Exempt

Wage Determination : Based on experience

Qualifications / Education :

16 years of age

Essential Functions :

Ensure that children are safe and that their everyday needs are met - this may include diapering, dressing, grooming, and feeding.

Engage in positive interaction with children to build confidence and self-esteem.

Ensure children are kept active, entertained, and engaged in developmental activities.

Effectively discipline children who are misbehaving.

Model and encourage good social skills, e.g. strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Monitor and report developmental or safety concerns.

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions :

Constant bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling

Constantly alternating between sitting and standing

Normally does not lift objects weighing more than 50lbs

Terms of Employment : Classified Personnel position, 12-month contract. Does not require a teaching or administrative certificate. Salary to be determined by Board of Education. Pay starting at $12.60 / hour.

Benefits : Defined benefit for health insurance (with minimum hours / week), Sick & Vacation Days, KPERS, Paid Holidays

Evaluation : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy concerning evaluation of classified personnel.
