The role of the Principal Technician is to oversee and ensure the successful implementation of automation setups. This includes reviewing designs, providing technical guidance, conducting quality control, and ensuring adherence to programming standards. The Principal Technician plays a critical role in training and supporting Technicians, maintaining high standards of installation quality, and delivering exceptional customer experiences through effective project closure.
Site Assessment:
• Lead advanced site assessments, offering expert insights into complex installations and system integrations, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
Planning:
• Oversee the planning process for multiple projects, providing strategic input, ensuring alignment with company objectives, and incorporating safety considerations.
Resource Allocation:
• Manage high-level resource allocation, ensuring all projects have the necessary materials, skilled personnel, and adherence to safety standards.
Wiring:
• Supervise wiring installation across multiple projects, ensuring consistent quality, safety, and adherence to company standards.
Device Installation and commissioning:
• Provide expert oversight of device installations, ensuring top-tier quality, addressing any challenges, and maintaining safety protocols.
Inspections and Quality:
• Lead advanced inspections, setting the standard for safety and quality, and ensuring all installations meet the highest expectations.
Coordination:
• Coordinate efforts across multiple projects, working with various trades and teams to ensure seamless and safe execution.
Troubleshooting:
• Resolve the most complex issues, drawing on extensive experience to ensure safety and optimal system performance across all projects.
Documentation:
• Ensure all documentation across projects is accurate, detailed, reflects the highest standards of work.
Tactical:
• Step in for the most challenging tactical tasks, using expertise to resolve high-profile or complex issues with an emphasis on safety.
Client Training and Custom Programming:
• Lead comprehensive client training sessions, ensuring that clients are fully educated on system use, including basic operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Provide expert-level custom programming tailored to the client's specific needs, ensuring that smart home systems are optimized for their unique requirements.
Ongoing Responsibilities:
• Mentor and guide technicians at all levels, shaping the development of future leaders within the company, emphasizing safety.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years experience in the Smart Home Automation field
Proficient in Control4 automation systems, including setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated ability to review designs, identify efficiencies, and make recommendations for improvements in budget and functionality.
Skilled in creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), conducting "train the trainer" sessions, and preparing comprehensive documentation such as Control4 tutorials, owner manuals, and warranty certificates.
Experience in conducting onsite quality control checks to ensure installations meet high standards.
Capable of managing client interactions during project closeouts, including final programming, tutorials, and documentation.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Able to lift up to 50lbs
