Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our healthcare team. The PCA will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and outpatient facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and assistance with daily activities, promoting their comfort and well-being.
Duties
- Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Monitor and record vital signs as directed by nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding if necessary.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to hygiene protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Document patient progress and report any changes in condition to the nursing staff promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to various specialties such as Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Inpatient/Outpatient care is advantageous.
- Familiarity with working in settings such as Level I or Level II Trauma Centers, Medical-surgical units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or clinics is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by healthcare regulations.
