Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Phlebotomist to join our team of compassionate and dedicated clinical professionals.
The Phlebotomist performs routine laboratory specimen collection & preparation on patients based on physician orders.
Phlebotomist duties include, but are not limited to:
- Collects blood specimens via venipuncture, per the physician's order.
- Assists with training of venipuncture skills to nursing staff as needed.
- Properly prepares blood and urine specimens for transport to testing facility.
- Stocks unit with needed laboratory supplies upon unit request, including requisitions, labels, 24 urine bottles with proper preservative and instructions, sterile and routine UA cups, culture swabs, plastic bags, and labels.
- Keeps an up to date log sheet with the date the specimen was obtained/initials.
- Correctly marks and prepares requisitions for sending to the lab.
- Forwards copies of infectious processes and all cultures to Infection Prevention RN and Pharmacy.
- Other Administrative Support duties
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
- Previous phlebotomy experience in venipuncture, specimen handling required.
- Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Course preferred.
- Employee must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, performance evaluation, etc.) to be considered for an internal transfer.
