FULL TIME POSITION
Work Year: Ten (10) Months
Effective Date
of Employment: 2024-2025 School Year
Salary: $36,000 annually
Organizational Relationship Line of Authority: Reports to Executive Director of Studen Support and his/her designee and the High School Principal
Statement of Duties:
Assist in providing transition services to eligible students, ages 18-22.
Assist program coordinator and teacher on integrated community trips and activities.
Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and community and work-based settings.
Assist in collecting data for behavioral or academic progress.
Initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions as designated and demonstrated by the classroom teacher.
Assist individual students as necessary to follow routines, follow directions, follow an individual schedule, and/or complete tasks.
Monitor students at all times including on/off the program van/city bus/various means of public transportation, lunch, on community outings or at a work/job site, and during times of transition.
Assist with students requiring self-help skills in the areas of safety skills, hygiene, and eating.
Create materials as time allows and directed by the teacher.
Help students identify their work, leisure, and educational interests
Identify and cultivate natural supports within educational, employment, and other community environments.
Assist employers with workplace modifications and/or accommodations.
Transport students to community settings and worksites.
Support the day-to-day operations (excluding financial record keeping) of Learning for Life, student-run worksites (The Learning Café, The Hillies Shop).
Support teachers in assessing students’ employment interests and preferences, provide initial career planning, and provide on-the-job coaching to support students in achieving their career goals.
Work as part of a team to provide supports that assist students with disabilities in developing and maintaining a job and independent living skills, and evaluate students' performance capabilities in real work/life settings.
Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher, principal, supervisors/directors, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or their designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
Associate Degree or 60 Credits, preferred.
Prefer prior experience with transition-aged youth in a school or similar setting.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
7D license preferred.
