Salary: $30.00/hour, up to 20 hours per week
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the Director of Multilingual Learner Education and/or his/her designee.
Statement of Duties:
- Responsible for written and oral translation of school documents as requested.
- Facilitate communication between parents/guardians and school staff through interpreting and translation services in a one on one and group settings.
- Attend HPS events outside of the school day to support families in Portuguese.
- Displays ethical and professional behavior in communicating and working with staff, students and community members.
- Displays strong, positive communication and interaction skills when dealing with co-workers, students, administrators, parents/guardians, visitors and/or the community.
- Exercises considerable discretion in the management of and protection and release of confidential information of both student and staff and in the interpretation and administration of policies and procedures.
- Responsible for general duties as indicated by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Post-secondary education – Preferred
- Proficient communication in English and Portuguese (speaking, reading, writing and listening)
- Must be detailed oriented and organized
- Interpreting and translation previous experience - Preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills working with our school and district community
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
