Grant Funded : Title I
Title of Position : Gateway Academy Extension Program Coordinator
Work Year : February 2025 through June 2025
8 : 00 a.m. to 2 : 00 p.m.
Effective Date of Employment : Immediate
Salary : $30.00 per hour up to six hours per day
Organizational Relationship
Or Line of Authority : Gateway Academy Principal and
the Superintendent of Schools and / or his / her designee
Statement of Duties :
- Organize the tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
- Monitor student performance or assist students in academic endeavors, such as online coursework, vocational training programs, projects, or other academic assignments.
- Review class material with students by discussing the text, working on solutions to problems, or reviewing course modules, worksheets, or other assignments.
- Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
- Implement intervention strategies, tutoring plans, and other supports in accordance with the students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and / or ML needs.
- Collaborate with students, parents, teachers, school administrators, or counselors to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans, or assess student progress.
- Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
- Create, monitor and adjust as needed the job training schedule for students participating in the vocational portion of the program.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for vocational training activities. Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
- Prepare students for later educational experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
- Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and the Gateway Academy principal in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic challenges.
- Provide students with disabilities with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities.
- Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
- Responsible for other duties as indicated by directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his / her designees; and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
