ABOUT THE ROLE:

This position is for a speech-language pathologist at Havern School and the Havern Autism Program (HAP), serving students with learning disabilities and autism. The SLP provides services to support the instructional program through their unique contribution, which complements and augments those made by other professionals who also have unique perspectives and skills. Working collegially with lower and middle school faculty, our HAP team, occupational therapists, and mental health providers, is essential. This position is a full-time week for the 2025-2026 school year.

Havern School creates confident learners by nurturing the potential of students with neurodiverse learning profiles through the use of specialized, small-group instruction and integrated therapies.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Culturally responsive and competent in working with students with neurodiverse learning profiles, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2) ages 5 to 12 with a wide range of communication needs and learning styles
  • Providing high-quality direct speech-language therapy services to students within the classroom environment, in small groups, or 1:1 as needed
  • Conducting comprehensive and functional assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills
  • Complete evaluation reports, write functional goals, take data, and other paperwork needed to provide high quality services
  • Developing treatment plans that are strength-based as well as child and family-centered for overall educational improvement
  • Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders
  • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection
  • Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers
  • Planning for and teaching, weekly social skills classes
  • Completing progress reports in a timely manner
  • Communicating and coordinating with all faculty and staff to ensure school mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced
  • Attend team meetings and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including, classroom teachers, support staff, mental health providers, RBTs, OTs, and parents
  • Designing and conducting training for parents and families if needed
  • Maintaining an inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies
  • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records
  • Keeping abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development
  • Engaging parents and families in their student's learning and acting as an ambassador for the school in the community
  • Collaborating with the partner speech-language pathologist at Havern
  • Maintaining professional relationships with outside therapists
  • Contributing productively to the school as a whole
  • Attending and participating in school events outside of regular school hours
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:


  • Masters in Speech-Language Pathology required
  • American Speech-Language Hearing Association credentials required and Colorado Licensure
  • Commitment to mission and philosophy of Havern School
  • Sensitivity to intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as verbal, written communication skills and strong organizational and management skills
  • Believe in each individual’s ability and potential to learn and succeed
  • Maintain current knowledge of techniques and best practices in education and desire and willingness to take advantage of professional development opportunities
  • Collaborative team plan and student-centered problem-solver
  • Minimum two years clinical experience in school setting, preferred
  • Experience with language-based learning disabilities, preferred



Salary Range: $55,000-$75,000
