Overview
We are a medium sized, locally owned import and distribution company seeking a dedicated and reliable Order Picker/Delivery Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for pulling and loading orders, transporting goods to various locations while ensuring timely and safe delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, exhibit proactive initiative, a commitment to customer service and the ability to navigate routes efficiently. This position requires physical stamina, the ability to bend, lift and carry 40 pounds, as you will be loading and unloading packages.
Duties
- Safely operate a delivery vehicle, including vans and box trucks, to transport goods to designated locations.
- Assemble, pack and load/unload customer orders from the vehicles, ensuring all packages are handled with care.
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates on delivery status and address any inquiries or concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including tracking information and customer signatures.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
- Provide excellent customer service by representing the company positively during interactions with clients.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in commercial driving or as a courier is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift heavy packages (40 pounds) and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading.
- Familiarity with route driving and navigation systems is advantageous.
- Previous experience in warehouse operations is a plus.
- Must be able to work longer hours on certain delivery days.
