Full Time Position
Position Summary:
Assumes responsibility for managing hospice volunteer programs and activities for Hawaii Care Choices operations. Conduct volunteer orientations and collect volunteer feedback to improve orientations and activities. Recruit and build volunteer team and their skills, conduct outreach, and increase awareness. Oversee and supervise all volunteer scheduling, activities and screening. Maintain volunteer files and match volunteers with projects suited to their skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages recruitment, retention and assignment of volunteers.
- Develops curriculum, conducts and maintains volunteer training programs based on Hawaii Care Choices organizational needs.
- Responsible for all applicable volunteer compliance in accordance with established policies, certifications and accreditation regulations.
- Determine number and skills of volunteers required to meet needs of patients, families, organization and community.
- Works in collaboration with senior management to develop, maintain, and coordinate specialized volunteer services and training.
- Expand the volunteer program by broadening volunteer activities to meet patient/family, community and organizational needs.
- Develop, plan and coordinate volunteer retention and/or support activities such as volunteer recognition event, in-service educational events.
- Assess, secure and coordinate appropriate placement of hospice volunteers.
- Evaluate and supervise the performance of volunteers to ensure quality care and services are being provided within the agency's established philosophy and policies
- Participate in IDT meetings as a representative for volunteers and a resource for identifying potential volunteer interventions and/or assignments.
- Manages and maintains volunteer files in accordance with Medicare requirements for documentation, including volunteer recap of hours.
- Prepares reports as requested including monthly Volunteer Manager report.
- Maintains and updates computerized volunteer mailing list; participates in meetings and committees as needed.
- Actively participates in program development and special projects.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, patient family/care givers, staff and leadership.
Skills/ Knowledge:
- Critical thinking and analysis skills are needed to ensure the continued development of the volunteer program to meet the needs of the community Hawaii Care Choices serves.
- Intuitive grasp of matching patient/family needs with suitable volunteer support.
- Ability to document all services provided, and to generate reports as requested
- Interest and desire to give hospice care with a special sensitivity to the needs of the dying.
- Capability of data gathering and statistical reporting.
- Ability to use sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving by utilizing resource materials and communication with others.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- At a minimum, three (3) years experience in a supervisory or management position.
- Preferred: Bachelor degree with experience supervising volunteers in a health-related field.
Hours:
- This is an exempt position, but the working day is primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend, evening, and holiday needs.
Pay: $54,359 - $58,000/annually
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
