Hawaii Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
Research Statistician
Exempt, non-civil service appointment.
This position manages, collects, analyzes, and reports data to support childhood lead poisoning prevention activities; maintains the lead surveillance registry; analyzes and prepares reports of lead surveillance data for the CDC; identifies and tracks children with lead poisoning using electronic surveillance software; and consults with health care professionals to prevent lead exposure and treat patients already exposed.
The Hawaii Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (HI-CLPPP) helps the community prevent children from being exposed to lead, identify children already exposed to lead so the source can be removed, and link families with recommended services. The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as a subject matter expert and leader for all lead-related surveillance, statistical analysis, and data-related activities.
Minimum Qualification(s)
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree, which included three (3) semester credit hours in statistics.
EXPERIENCE: Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of responsible professional experience with knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server, statistical software, and spreadsheets for the storage, manipulation, and reporting of blood lead data laboratory results. Preferred skills and abilities are listed below:

· Using software relating to statistical analysis and data management.
· Working as part of a team and communicating with colleagues, clients, and partners in a professional, tactful manner.
· Managing, cleaning, and preparing data.
· Quickly completing computer-related tasks.
· Writing concise, accurate reports.
· Self-motivation and proactive learning.
· Completing work with initiative, persistence, attention to detail, and within time constraints.
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: Successful completion of one (1) year of graduate study (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) at an accredited college or university which included at least one graduate course in research methods and techniques or in advanced statistics, may be substituted for one (1) year of the Specialized Experience.
