POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager (PM) plays a lead role in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing projects. The PM manages designated projects while ensuring alignment with the company's strategic directions, objectives, budgets and priorities. The PM manages project activities that span multiple HDS departments to meet deadlines within budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Internalize requested outcomes and current processes to successfully manage all projects. Coordinate and clearly communicate project expectations with contractors, stakeholders and other team members throughout the lifecycle of the project. Responsibilities include the Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing phases of the project lifecycle. Manage multiple projects and deadlines while keeping project teams focused on quality results that are in the best interests of the company. Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans. Identify project risks, and communicate these risks and recommended actions to Director, Project Management Office.
- Utilize project management software (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheets, Visio, etc.) to document and manage projects, when applicable.
- Collaborate with the Director, Project Management Office to identify methods that increase efficiency while maintaining quality results.
- Evaluate current best practices and lead discussions with business users that result in recommended solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training or working experience.
Experience
Two years related project analyst or project management experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to ensure the continued success of the project(s), and consistency with corporate strategy, commitments and goals.
- Ability to organize, analyze and problem-solve complex problems.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize with on-going distractions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of team members (internal and external) on sensitive matters.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment under tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a micro and macro view of the business, issues and impacts of potential changes to processes and workflows.
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
- Flexible during times of change.
- Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.
- Working knowledge of PC (prefer Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license and personal transportation vehicle needed.
