What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard - Hamilton Library at UH Manoa position at Hawaii Detective & Guard?
This posting is for a full-time Security Guard position located at the Hamilton Library at UH Manoa. Full-time day shifts are currently available.
Security Guard Duties:
- Enforce Library and University policies of conduct within the facility.
- Maintain contact with designated Library staff. Uphold the University’s safety and security mission, goals/objectives, and requirements for providing service.
- Be alert and maintain surveillance for unusual and deviant behavior, i.e., vandalism, harassment, suspicious behavior.
- Complete electronic Daily Activity Reports via site phone.
- Conduct checkpoint scans every 2 hours.
- Ensure that health and sanitation standards are observed by enforcing Library rules on eating, drinking, and smoking.
- Maintain a safe study environment by enforcing fire code policies such as the use of extension cords and keeping all fire exits clear of obstacles (chairs, tables, rubbish cans, etc.).
- Communicate with designated University Departments and external emergency services when required.
- When appropriate, contact external agency or agencies for emergency services, i.e., ambulance, police, fire.
- Identify University property and ensure that it does not leave the premises unless properly checked out at a Circulation Desk.
- Count persons entering and/or patrol throughout the building; noting the number of people present or number of lap tops being used at designated times.
- Assist in opening and/or closing the Library when required.
Requirements:
- 1 Year of Security Guard experience
- Valid HI Guard Card
