LOCATIONS: These positions are in the Environmental Services (EVS), or Housekeeping, department of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. HHSC Kaua’i Region consists of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), both critical access hospitals; The Kaua’i Region Clinics; and its affiliates.
The Environmental Services department delivers housekeeping services throughout the hospital and staff quarters. This includes maintaining a sanitary environment, cleaning infectious and contaminated areas, providing pest control, collecting contaminated materials for disposal, and distributing linen and office supplies.
JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively searching for an enthusiastic individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, has strong teamwork skills, and has a proactive attitude toward maintaining a safe environment to join our team as the EVS Worker II. The EVS Worker II is responsible for performing routine manual tasks related to the cleaning and maintenance of hospital facilities. This role includes heavy lifting, cleaning areas and equipment that are difficult to access, conducting simple building repairs, and operating heavy industrial cleaning equipment. Additionally, the EVS Worker II may be assigned other related duties as needed.
The position reports directly to the Administrative Services Officer I (Safety, Environment of Care/EVS), position no. 59875, or their designee. Candidates must be available to travel to various locations within the region and work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, to meet the operational needs of the hospital/clinic, as services are provided 24/7.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. Also, please see below the additional requirements according to the specific department. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications.
Knowledge of: Practices, tools, and materials used in janitorial work; knowledge of basic practices in methods of infection control, housekeeping protocols and procedures, safety, handling, and disposal of waste preferred.
Ability to: Lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform minor building repair and maintenance tasks; and safely operate heavy industrial-type cleaning equipment. Ability to reference Material Safety Data Sheet to safely work with departmental chemicals; use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and wrenches to perform the daily duties that are assigned; work independently and complete all job assignments daily preferred.
Licensure: Current, valid State of Hawai’i type# 3 motor vehicle operator’s license preferred.
