LOCATION: This is a regional position and is located in the Data Processing Information Technology (IT) department of Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which consist of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, Urgent Care at Po’ipū, The Clinic at Līhu’e, and The Clinic at Kapa’a are all part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.
The Data Processing/Information Technology (IT) department is responsible for the overall evaluation, planning, analysis, development, improvement, and support of the Kaua’i Region’s information technology systems and tools.
JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively seeking for a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced individual to join our growing ‘ohana as our Information Technology (IT) Specialist I- IV (EHR Specialist) (Regional). As the IT Specialist, you will be responsible to coordinate, facilitate, and assist with the development, ongoing maintenance, evaluation, and optimization of a region-wide electronic health records system. Responsibilities also include direct support to Kaua’i Region clinicians (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, ancillary and other interdisciplinary team members) in their use of our EHR system; competency validation; evaluating and optimizing internal workflows; and serving as a liaison between our EHR system and EHR vendor to communicate necessary technical enhancements and troubleshooting issues. This IT Specialist will also be responsible to engage, facilitate, and encourage collaboration among facilities/SMEs and end users to accomplish these outcomes. The position may be required to work shifts, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, and long hours and may require travel to each facility, and clinic, and off-island travel for training or education on the EHR systems. This position reports administratively to the IT Systems Manager I (Regional), or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications.
Education: Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited (4) year college or university. Major coursework in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
Specialized Experience: Progressively responsible work experience in information technology which involved systems analysis, design, programming, security and access management, database design, management, consulting, and/or installing and maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and web or network infrastructure equipment. The work must have demonstrated
knowledge and understanding of information technology principles, methods, techniques, and practices; computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; and personal computer, server, mini, and/or mainframe operating systems:
