Position: Dental Assistant - Secretary

Facility: Hawaii Job Corps Center - Maui

Location: 500 Ike Dr, MAKAWAO, HI 96768

Rate of pay: $20.44 per hour

Work schedule: 32 hours per week - 12 hours per week are dental assisting duties and 20 hours per week are secretarial duties

Position summary: The dental assistant is responsible for preparing patients for exams and treatment by the dental team.

Essential responsibilities:

• Assist dentist in performing services by preparing patients in chair and handling instruments, equipment, and dental plastics, assist with x-rays and provide post-operative and oral hygiene instructions as prescribed by dentist.
• Sterilize instruments and keep the office stocked with required supplies.
• Arrange and maintain appointment schedule.
• Keep records of patients, act as office receptionist.
• Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff, and other center customers.

Education and experience requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid dental assistant certification
• Certified to take x-rays
• One (1) year of related experience
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record

About us: Hawaii Job Corps Center is operated by Management & Training Corporation (MTC) for the U.S. Department of Labor. Located in Waimanalo, Oahu & Makawa’o, Maui, our campus is home to 300 young adults, ages 16-24, who have made the decision to come to Job Corps in order to improve their lives. Every staff member is part of teaching the students the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills they need to become prepared for successful careers.

A Job Corps campus is like a mini-college. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success.

Hawaii Job Corps Center offers students training in nine vocations: building construction technology, automotive, office administration, culinary, landscaping, painting, health occupations, medical office administration and security/protective services trade.
