Job Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant VP for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director of Admissions (International and Military Campus Programs) manages the recruitment process from inquiry to enrollment for prospective international and military students from an assigned geographic territory to achieve or exceed established recruitment goals. This position manages admissions process and file review for assigned territory, maintains relationships with community partners, organizes enrollment related events, and participates in the day-to-day operation of the admissions office, as well as the development and implementation of a student recruitment strategy. This position also provides transcript evaluation for military campus program students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, OR related experience
  • This position may also require driving responsibility for an HPU vehicle. Due to driving responsibilities, you must have a Driver’s License and meet training and background check qualifications and comply with HPU’s Vehicle Driving policy.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree
  • Two years of work experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, or related experience
  • One year of staff/employee management experience.
  • Experience in recruitment, event planning, marketing, web and social media
  • Experience in Ellucian Banner and/or CRM/Target X
  • Experience in higher education administration in the private sector
  • Experience with International students and military personnel
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with teams, and professional presentation and public speaking skills
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
  • Flexible, able to multi-task, and enjoy speaking in public and to large groups.

Other Qualifications:
All Candidates
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy
  • Able to travel as necessary that may frequently require being away from home for extended periods ranging from several days to two weeks at a time
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

1.Recruitment (30%)
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies, marketing and projects for assigned territory market.
  • Evaluate and analyze markets, including doing research of educational system, funding opportunities, marketing/advertising channels, to determine target markets and effective recruitment strategies using statistical data and budgetary consideration to enroll students that support the university mission.
  • Actively market HPU's educational products and services to students/parents, agents, colleges/universities and professional/educational organizations.
  • Plan, cultivate and maintain contact and good working relationships with prospective students, parents, agents, and key staff at educational institutions and other relevant organizations, such as high schools, junior/community colleges, recruitment agencies, global organizations, and universities in the assigned region, with on-site visits, personal contacts, correspondence, social media, etc.
  • Oversee full function of recruitment to admit process including: attending and planning recruitment events, locate and interview prospective applicants, collect, review and analyze documentation to make admit decisions.
  • Provide feedback, analysis to management regarding challenges and opportunities for recruiting domestic students
  • Manage and coordinate internal/external communication and recruitment events such as receptions, presentations, webinars, webcasts, fairs, chats, newsletters, and representation at on- and off-campus events.
  • In collaboration with others in Enrollment Management, develop and monitor content and messaging for the admissions social media campaign; including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Chat and other interactive media.
  • Travel as required to represent HPU and recruit prospective students at high schools, college fairs, receptions, information sessions, and community events.

2.Admissions Process (30%)
  • Determine eligibility for acceptance into the University based on information provided in each student’s file.
  • Counsel prospective students and families about admission, financial aid, scholarships, registration, academic programs and student life at the University.
  • Manage the collection and processing of application files for assigned territory.
  • Develop and implement timely and efficient written and electronic correspondence with applicant pool.
  • Meet expectations of phoning, email, and social media campaigns to prospective students and parents.
  • Responsible for interpreting financial aid offers to provide prospective students with accurate information and counseling concerning financial need.
  • Responsible for assisting with transfer credit evaluation.

3.Transcript evaluations and Advising (20%)
  • Advise students about transfer credit policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and assign course equivalencies on both domestic and international transcripts, including other forms of college credit such as Advanced Placement, CLEP, etc.
  • Accurately build and maintain approved military credit evaluations in all data systems.
  • Evaluate and analyze course equivalencies in consultation with Academic Deans and their respective Department or Program chairs.
  • Manages and monitors work flow processes and data processing systems.
  • Promote timeliness and data integrity within the process.
  • Upholds University policies and procedures.
  • Determine eligibility for transferability of military credit into the University based on information provided in each students file.
  • Responsible for interpreting military transcripts and educational documents to provide students with accurate information.
  • Manage the collection and processing of military educational documents for transfer credit.
  • Develop and implement timely and efficient written and electronic correspondence.
  • Maintain expectations of communication (phone, email) to military students and HPU community.
  • Participate in seminars and workshops for professional and faculty advisors.
  • Utilize and familiarize students with technology tools and other available resources (e.g.,Banner, Degree Works, Academic Catalog) to assist students degree planning.
  • Assist students with course registration as requested.
  • Monitor students’ progress until the point of registration.
  • Provide information regarding deadlines, policies and procedures, and services available to students while maintaining strict confidentiality of information pertaining to individual student records.

4.Other (20%)
  • “Counselor of the Day” – Participate in the rotation to assist with walk-in visitors and phone calls from prospective students and families.
  • Develop and recommend the formulation of departmental goals and objectives to ensure teamwork, productivity and professional growth and development in the department.
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining and updating assigned sections of the Admission Office manual in keeping with the mission of the University.
  • Responsible for monitoring reports of assigned territory.
  • Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
  • Assists with seasonal peaks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
