The Library Coordinator - Night Supervisor at HPU Library and Learning Commons plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation and safety of the Learning Commons nights and weekends. Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Some supervising experience.
- Experience in customer service and public interaction.
- Aptitude for implementing and applying new technologies.
- Ability to acquire and develop new skills relevant to library systems.
- Three years' experience supervising personnel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with effective and clear communication with security, faculty, staff and students.
- Commitment to inclusion, equity, and serving the needs of a diverse population.
- Experience with resource sharing software, discovery tools, and productivity tools.
- Demonstrate creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Strong service orientation and awareness of end-user needs related to library systems and web platforms required.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance are not available for this position.
- Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
- This position may be considered an essential position with report-to-work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation.
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
- Upon hire, the candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position.
- This position may also require driving responsibility for an HPU vehicle. Due to driving commitments, you must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with HPU's Vehicle Driving policy.
- Able to work night shifts and extended hours.

- Maintain the efficient and effective operation of the Learning Commons (60%)
- Schedule and supervising student workers to ensure the smooth operation of the front desk at night.
- Provide front desk coverage when student workers are unavailable, from Sunday - Thursday.
- Train, guide, and coach student workers to ensure high performance.
- Deliver excellent customer service by assisting patrons, resolving issues, and maintaining a welcoming and sage environment to all, especially in handling sensitive situations related to mental health and ensuring appropriate support and referrals when needed
- Maintains awareness and executes emergency preparedness procedures and protocols.
- Report maintenance and IT issues, including printers and other technology problems, during after-hours.
- Monitor library email during after-hours to ensure timely responses to inquiries and issues, maintaining communication and support for library services outside regular operating hours.
- Collaborates with library staff and campus partners to update policies and address patron conduct issues.
- Collect and report statistical data on building use, service desk transactions, and Interlibrary Loan usage.
- Work with library administration to set up operational hours and communicate closure during holidays or emergencies.
- Oversee supporting library responsibilities, including interlibrary loan, lending services and web presence. (25%)
- Assist with interlibrary loan request for borrowing and lending during after-hours, acting as backup for Access Services Coordinator.
- Monitor the Library & Learning Commons website, reviewing and reporting issues.
- Assist student workers with check out of and materials and utilize override powers as needed, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Update patron records, reconciles patron accounts, and collaborated with other library staff on OCLC records maintenance.
- Maintain an inventory of technology equipment at the Learning Commons and ensure items dropped off are returned to proper location.
- Collaborate with librarians, staff, and faculty on student success activities. (10%)
- Support the library and university through participation in DEI events hosted after-hours at the Learning Commons.
- Participates in peak seasonal activities or events at the libraries such as welcome week, national library week, banned book week, or de-stress week.
- Serves the library and university through committee service and partnerships with Student Life or Center for Academic Success.
- Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)
- Actively contribute as a team member by completing assigned duties and accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
- Assists with seasonal peaks for scheduling during the first two weeks of the semester and the last two weeks of the semester are also known as Extended Hour Schedule.
