What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Analyst/Analyst position at Hawaii State Auditor?
The Office of the State Auditor, State of Hawai’i, is seeking qualified individuals to conduct performance audits and analyses of state agencies and programs.
Major Duties
Conducts performance audits, studies and program reviews, analyses, and evaluations of state agencies, organizations or programs in subject matters which are diverse and complex. Senior Analysts lead project teams, including planning and overseeing the day-to-day work of analysts assigned to the project. Senior Analysts work closely with project supervisors to inform the Auditor and other managers about project status and to develop audit findings. Successful candidates will be classified commensurate with experience in one of two position descriptions and specifications: Senior Analyst or Analyst.
Minimum Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
- For Senior Analyst position, 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in a Microsoft Windows-based, networked environment and have at least an intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat is desirable.
Desirable Qualifications
- Professional experience in government performance auditing or in financial auditing, forensic analysis, or risk management, including experience conducting investigations.
- For Senior Analyst position, experience as lead or in-charge auditor for large and complex assignments, including responsibility for developing audit plans, organizing and assigning specific tasks and supervising audit teams, reviewing audit work papers, and preparing audit reports is highly desirable.
- A thorough understanding of state government.
- A license to practice as a certified public accountant, law degree, master’s degree in accounting, economics, business administration, public policy or other advanced degree in a related field.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certification in Risk Management Assurance.
Compensation
Starting salaries and salary adjustments are set at the discretion of the State Auditor, as provided under Chapter 89C, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes (Public Officers and Employees Excluded from Collective Bargaining).
